Phew after months if not years of deliberation , I have finally decided to take the plunge. Plunge into the blogosphere (Sorry Guys if you were expecting something else).
Talk about timing : In the train without a computer I have started to pen my thoughts down on a scrap piece of paper.
Next step: To type this and publish it online. Now you might wonder why I have gone into such excruciating details about starting a blog. Well , it is to highlight my constant procrastrination to start blogging. On second thoughts , I would extend this to just about all my activities I had planned in the past few months
Hit the gym and follow a proper regimen - This one has eluded and haunted me for years . I am determined not to give up :)
Learn a new language - Some success here
I guess everyone has their "To-do" lists esp after movies like "Dasvidanya" and the " Bucket List"
As I start to think , I notice my neighbour who is very curious about my activites and enquires
What are you writing ? Can I read it?
Before you know it this dude is enquiring about my paycheck .
It makes me recollect an earlier train journey where I met an elderly couple on their way back to Bangalore from Delhi.
Lets give them hypothetical names : Mishra Uncle and aunty.
Mishra Uncle and aunty were really keen to know the complete works ( Schooling , paycheck, marriage ) Could they have left out anything ? Hmmm how about my Bank Balance?
Now come on why stop at that ? Makes me wonder how audacious people can be ?
These are some of the beautiful experiences you can have in our Trains. You spend an entire day with the person in front of you and share all your problems without sharing your name.
Look Ma !No need to visit the confession booth with that scary priest sitting in front of you.
Yes Ladies and Gentlemen , Train journeys can be a confession booth for many Indians.
Coming back to this journey , this dude who is apparently from America "Jeet" is in India to get married and is on the lookout. His folks are from rural Maharashtra and are not well . Gee this journey has got enough ingredients to make a cheap Bolly flick. He is travelling to Delhi to meet potential brides. I quickly step in with my self -professed awareness about global issues and tell him it should be pretty easy for you to get a bride. He replies that after recession , girls are not ready to settle in US as they are worried .I insisted it is a temporary phase and tried to pacify him. In my defense , he really looked worried.
Another observation with the US Junta, they like to rant about the lack of family time in US and the fact that they dont get to celebrate festivals. I find this hard to believe. I bet they dont say this when they visit the local strip club and get high on meth.
I mean dude you chose this life for various reasons , so live it and dont crib.
I dont want to sound like a guy who resents this, I also had the American dream the point is there are trade-offs which we need to realize in all the choices we make.
Coming back to my journey , I finish my chit chat with Jeet and he retires into his berth.
I know this is an abrupt end but I better hit the sack now ,
Some concluding thoughts:
I dont know how this blog has come out. Maybe its just crap.
I read in the Speaking Tree that just by the process of writing your thoughts in any random order without trying to be gramatically correct enriches your mind.
After this experience,I agree.
Who cares after all!!
Before I sign off , I want to leave a message to the guys who I think would probably be the first to read my blog.
Tarun - Your timely inspirations did help in making this blog a reality .
Vinit - I dont know if you will still read this after shifting to Bombay :), but your encouragement was certainly behind this blog.
More blogs on our legendary nights planned!!
Keep watching this space..
